Report】Marine Tech Grand Prix 2024: Grand Prize Won by Lipper Co.

The Marintec Grand Prix 2024 was held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Center of Garage to select the winning teams for the Grand Prize and the Corporate Award.

Since 2020, Tech Planter has been promoting the concept of "Deep Issue & Deep Tech Explorer," in which unsolved issues (deep issues) are solved through the collective use of science and technology (deep tech). On the day of the event, the 12 finalist teams of the Ecotech Grand Prix, selected from among the 336 teams that applied for the Tech Planter 2024, passionately presented their ideas for developing fundamental technologies that could lead to solutions to various social issues through the use of technology.

And the winner of the prestigious Grand Prize was "LIPPER Corporation (Theme: Reducing Marine Microplastics with Nanotechnology Tires)" LIPPER's goal is to develop environmentally friendly tire materials. The company will replace petroleum-derived carbon black and commercialize a naturally-derived tire reinforcing agent. This will reduce CO2 emissions in the manufacturing and disposal processes, and we are striving to realize a world in which tire dust emissions of marine microplastics are reduced.

Marintec is a place where innovative ideas and projects that confront deep ocean-related challenges and make waves are born. Will the world where cars with white tires drive on public roads, which is the goal of Lipper Corporation, really be a necessary technology for the oceans? This is a world that requires challenges that transcend our position, which is why we were selected for the Grand Prize for the reason that we should examine and aim for it together.

Lipper Corporation, along with the Tech Planter Grand Prize winning teams in six other areas,The Japan Society for Hyperdifferentiation 2025 Tokyo-Kanto Conference(March 7 and 8, 2025) to participate in a special pitch session. Furthermore, the two teams that excel in this session will participate in the TECH PLANTER Asia Final 2025.
