Marinitech Grand Prix 2021 Preliminary Report: Grand Prize Won by KUAU
2021/10/04The Marintec Grand Prix 2021 was held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Center of Garage to select the winning teams for the Grand Prize and the Corporate Award.
The Tech Planter concept has evolved to "Deep Issue & Deep Tech Explorer" since the 2020 season, which is a collection of science and technology to solve unsolved "deep issues" through "deep tech. Tech Explorer," which is a collection of science and technology to solve "Deep Issues" through "Deep Tech.
On the day of the event, the 12 finalist teams of the Marine Tech Grand Prix, selected from among the 316 teams that applied for the Tech Planter 2021 competition, gave passionate presentations about their ideas for solving marine-related problems and solving social issues using technologies derived from the sea.
And the winner of the prestigious Grand Prize was KUAU.
KUAU's theme is.High-efficiency coral propagation technology to reduce CO2We're trying to fix it."It is. We discovered that the surface treatment of implants, originally used for bone regeneration in the field of regenerative medicine and engineering, efficiently adsorbs coral polyps and promotes skeletal formation. Compared to tree planting on land, this technology can achieve carbon fixation that is dozens of times more efficient per area, and we aim to implement it in society in the future. Although numerous hurdles are expected to be overcome in the actual commercialization of this technology, it is expected to be a great success in the future, as it is expected to contribute to the development of marine CO2The award was given in recognition of the company's stance on immobilization and in anticipation of its vision of realizing a carbon-neutral society through coral rehabilitation.
