Biotech Grand Prix 2023 Preliminary Report: Grand Prize Won by Mormill, Inc.

The Biotech Grand Prix 2023 was held at the Center of Garage on Saturday, September 23, 2023, to select the winning teams for the Grand Prize and the Company Prize.

Starting with the 2020 season, the Tech Planter will evolve its concept to "Deep Issue & Deep Tech Explorer," which will use "Deep Tech," a collection of science and technology, to solve unsolved "Deep Issues. Tech Explorer," which is a collection of science and technology to solve "Deep Issues" through "Deep Tech". We aim to encourage a global perspective from the early stage, and to accelerate new developments through collaboration with the 1371 teams (as of September 1, 2023) of Alumni and others in the overseas Tech Planter hosted by RIVERNESS. On the day of the event, the 12 finalist teams of the Biotech Grand Prix, selected from among the 336 teams that applied to Tech Planter 2023, gave passionate presentations on their ideas for solving social issues through the use of biotechnology.

The winner of the prestigious Grand Prize was MOLMIL Co.
MOLMIR, Inc. gave a presentation titled "Capturing Molecular Motion to Develop Therapeutics". He shared his vision of capturing the movement of molecules in a near-live state by combining CHEmir (AI-assisted analytic chemistry), which provides a broad view of molecular states, and MAGmir (NMR-based molecular dynamics), which provides an atomic-level view of molecular dynamics. He also spoke about his vision to capture the movement of molecules in a living state.
The Grand Prize was awarded to the representative for his conviction to "see the state of the molecule," and all the judges agreed to work together to create a way out, promising to encourage researchers from academia to take on the challenge of starting their own businesses.

In addition, the winner of the Grand Prize of the 1st Bioscience Grand Prix (now Biotech Grand Prix), Mr. Masatsugu Fukuda, President and CEO of Metagen Inc. (4th from left in the above photo), participated for the first time as a member of the jury. This was a historic moment for Aramnai, a Biotech Grand Prix winner, to join the jury as a senior entrepreneur.
