Ecotech Grand Prix 2024: Grand Prize Won by Element Neutral

The Ecotech Grand Prix 2024 was held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Center of Garage to select the winning teams for the Grand Prize and the Company Prize.

Since 2020, Tech Planter has been promoting the concept of "Deep Issue & Deep Tech Explorer," in which unsolved issues (Deep Issue) are solved by a collection of science and technology (Deep Tech).On the day of the event, the 12 finalist teams for the Ecotech Grand Prix, selected from among 336 teams that applied for the Tech Planter 2024 competition, passionately presented their ideas for developing fundamental technologies that could lead to solutions to various social issues through the use of technology.

And the winner of the prestigious Grand Prize was "Element Neutral (theme name: CO2 conversion reaction using silicon reductant). The reaction process they developed enables the chemical reaction of silicon and CO2 contained in discarded solar panels to recycle each as a valuable resource.

In these days when there are calls for carbon neutrality and resource recycling, the judges all agreed with the vision of realizing a true elemental cycle by applying chemical reactions and combining multiple elements, rather than developing a circular system of a single substance or element, and aiming to accelerate social implementation together. This is why it was selected as the Grand Prize winner.

Element Neutral, along with the Tech Planter Grand Prize winning teams in six other areas,The Japan Society for Hyperdifferentiation 2025 Tokyo-Kanto Conference(March 7 and 8, 2025) to participate in a special pitch session. Furthermore, the two teams that excel in this session will participate in the TECH PLANTER Asia Final 2025. Through these initiatives, we aim to unite Japanese and Southeast Asian ventures, large and medium-sized companies to develop solutions to deep issues in Southeast Asia.
