Report】The 2nd Kansai Tech Plan Grand Prix: The Grand Prize goes to Aquas Corporation

The 2nd Kansai Tech Plan Grand Prix was held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Hartung Hall Nippon Seimei Midosuji Building 12F, and the winning teams for the Grand Prize and Corporate Award were selected.

LIVERNESS Corporation designated two prefectures in the Kansai area (Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Nara, and Wakayama) as priority regions and held the "2nd Kansai Tech Plan Grand Prix" with the aim of discovering and fostering teams with science and technology and passion to change the world from the Kansai region. This year, 12 finalist teams, selected from a total of 28 entries, gave presentations on the issues they are working to solve, their core technologies, and business plans.

The winner of the prestigious Grand Prize was Aquas Corporation (theme: Development of Innovative Research Tools and Construction of Encyclopedia of Botanical Ingredients). Phytoconstituents are used in various fields, and new active ingredients are sought after. However, the challenge is that it is extremely difficult to isolate ingredients for exploration. Aiming to solve this problem, Aquas Corporation has developed innovative separation materials (columns) and innovative research tools centered on these columns. Furthermore, by constructing an encyclopedia of plant components (database), we aim to contribute to the development of all kinds of bio-industries.

The Grand Prize was awarded based on the expectation that, once the database is built, new ideas for utilizing it can be implemented in society, and the potential of all kinds of plants can be discovered and utilized.
