Biotech Grand Prix 2021 Preliminary Report: Grand Prize Goes to B-Lab

The Biotech Grand Prix 2021 was held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Center of Garage to select the winning teams for the Grand Prize and the Company Prize.

The Tech Planter concept has evolved to "Deep Issue & Deep Tech Explorer" since the 2020 season, which is a collection of science and technology to solve unsolved "deep issues" through "deep tech. On the day of the event, the 12 finalist teams for the Biotech Grand Prix, selected from among 316 teams that applied for the Tech Planter 2021 competition, gave passionate presentations on their ideas for solving problems through the use of biotech-related technologies.

And the winner of the prestigious Grand Prize was "B-Lab.

Their theme is.New additives based on biological properties will transform extraction and synthesis."The new biomimetic additive, developed after more than 10 years of research, can change the water network structure and dissolve difficult-to-water-soluble substances in water up to tens of thousands of times. Using this capability, we aim to realize extraction of active ingredients and chemical synthesis without the use of organic solvents. In addition to having materials that partner companies can try out immediately, the award was given in anticipation of the possibility of building a fundamental technology that will continue to produce more and more new materials and substances in the future.
