ABOUT
Purpose
At universities, research institutes, and corporate laboratories, the "seeds" of science and technology are being born, and it takes a lot of time and effort before they sprout into practical applications. The "TECH PLANTER" organized by Leave a Nest with its partner companies is an ecosystem that aims to discover these seeds and serve as a planter to turn them into businesses. Asia Final event will be showcasing Grand Winners and Leave a Nest Awards Winners from 6 ASEAN countries. This event will further provide the opportunities for the team to showcase their project to wider range of ecosystem players.
Target
  • Early stage startups and pre-startup researchers' team or individual in Real Tech Field
  • Mature startups or SMEs seeking collaborators are also welcome, even if they are close to mass production or PMF establishment.
  • Visionaries that aim to change the world and/or their own country to a better place based on the science and tech based seeds
  • Those who are interested in the Japanese market or collaboration with Japanese corporations.

Judging Criteria
A panel of judges consisting of Leave a Nest and its partners will evaluate each of the following items.

One of the startups he was supporting called euglena Co., Ltd. was listed in the First section of Tokyo Stock exchange. Heʼs expert in advising young entrepreneur in business development and venture spirit.

Prior to joining Real Tech Holdings, Mr. Fujii worked for EIT Climate-KIC, EU’s largest organization fostering climate innovation. He was involved in setting up several business units, led a company-wide change management program focusing on people management and managed the company’s effort to assess its climate impact. Mr. Fujii holds a Master's degree in International Studies from the University of Tokyo.

He moved to the department driving open innovation four years ago and exploring new technologies to upgrade their products and services for future market.

    Mr. Toru Okubo graduated from graduate school of Agriculture, Kyoto University. In 2009, he joined the Research and Development Division of Roto Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. He was transferred to the Department of Dermatology at the University of Michigan School of Medicine in 2011 and to the Graduate School of Medicine at Osaka University in 2014, where he was engaged in research on dermal aging mechanisms and regenerative medicine using stem cells, as well as in the development of cosmetics. In 2018, he returned to the “Rohto Research Village Kyoto” to take up his current position.

    Mr. Takeshi Yoshida
    Mr. Takeshi Yoshida joined the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) in April 1991. He was a visiting scholar at Stanford University. In August 2008, he became the Chief Representative of the NEDO office in New Delhi. Since October 2018, Mr. Yoshida has been working as Director General of Innovation Promotion Department where he manages various programs to foster technology-based startups.
