- At universities, research institutes, and corporate laboratories, the "seeds" of science and technology are being born, and it takes a lot of time and effort before they sprout into practical applications. The "TECH PLANTER" organized by Leave a Nest with its partner companies is an ecosystem that aims to discover these seeds and serve as a planter to turn them into businesses. Our program in MALAYSIA aimed at discovering and nurturing Real Tech seeds and entrepreneurs.
- Target

- Early stage startups and pre-startup researchers’ team or individual in Real Tech Field
- Mature startups or SMEs seeking collaborators are also welcome, even if they are close to mass production or PMF establishment.
- Visionaries that aim to change the world and/or their own country to a better place based on the science and tech based seeds
- Those who are interested in the Japanese market or collaboration with Japanese corporations.

Application deadline & 1st selection
After our closing the application window, a panel of judges consisting of Leave a Nest and its partners will review the applications.
Applicants will be asked to submit information about their team, technology, passion, and future vision via web form.
All applicants will be notified of the results of the screening process and will receive feedback on their applications.
In addition, online individual interviews will be held for those who wish to participate in the presentation review.

Announcement of finalists
Selected Finalists will be announced in the middle of May.
For applicants who pass the selection, interviews will be held to brush up their presentations for the final DEMO DAY.
In addition, it is possible to set up interviews with partner companies for the purpose of business consultation and to develop collaboration projects.

Chief judge Managing Director, Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.Mr. Abdul Hakim Sahidi
- Mr. Abdul Hakim Bin Sahidi is one of the pioneer members of Leave a Nest Malaysia, having joined the company in 2016. Since then, he has played a crucial role in establishing and leading a passionate team in the country. His primary focus lies in business and technological advancements that have the potential to create significant impacts on society. With his extensive experience, Mr. Abdul Hakim has been actively involved in mentoring researchers and startups in both Malaysia and Indonesia. He plays a vital role in bridging them with the right partners, both locally and from Japan, to facilitate collaboration and growth opportunities. Through his efforts, he aims to nurture and cultivate a new generation of technopreneurs in Malaysia, while also supporting the implementation of meaningful technologies that can benefit society as a whole.

- Kenji is Director of Real Tech Holdings Singapore and manages deep tech VC investments in the Southeast Asia region. Prior to his position, he has had over 10 years of experience in equity investments across Asia, US and Africa. He has served as Principal at TPTF, US-APAC tech VC, and as Deputy General Manager of the investment division for an international mining/materials company. He started his career as a co-founder of a startup in Japan as leading sales & marketing and finance functions. He earned his MBA from INSEAD and majored in nuclear engineering in the University of Tokyo.

- Joined Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in 2011. He started his career in sales and marketing of energy management solutions in Japan. After that, he was engaged in the establishment of smart metering systems for utility companies in Southeast Asia and Europe and completed projects with strategic partners. He has been in the current position since April 2021 and leading open innovation at Mitsubishi Electric.

Manager, NIPPON SHOKUBAI CO., LTD.Mr. Yusuke Miyazaki
- Since 1941, Nippon Shokubai has grown up its business with unique catalyst technology and has supplied, for example, ethylene oxide, acrylic acid, automobile catalysts, process catalysts and so on. Among all, its global market share of superabsorbent polymers is the largest in the world now. Its R&D teams are especially focusing on ICT, energy & resources, and life sciences as their new core business. In Singapore, a collaborative research project with Nanyang Technological University started in 2017 to develop new technologies and products. Mr. Miyazaki is a manager of the project, who had been in charge of the bioprocess research and development for a decade when he was in Japan. In addition to his research activity in NTU, he is also looking for new opportunities to collaborate with other companies in new ways based on his biological background.

- Mr. Kamarul is the Founder and CEO of Aerodyne Group, a Malaysian-based drone solutions provider that is ranked second in the world by Drone Industry Insights of Germany. He was recently named 'EY Entrepreneur of The Year 2020', 'EY Technology Entrepreneur of The Year 2020 Malaysia' as well as 'SEBA Entrepreneur of The Year 2020’. Kamarul led Aerodyne from a 3 person startup in 2014 to a global company with presence in 35 countries in just 6 years. He is a TEDx speaker and a drone industry thought leader, who has presented his ideas and innovation on AI, Drones and Industry 4.0 around the world. An auditor by training, Kamarul spent his formative years in the city of London before switching his career to the tech industry upon returning to Malaysia after a 10 year stint in the UK. Kamarul is an avid explorer and has travelled to more than 100 countries, both for business and pleasure.

- Dr. Hanafiah Yussof is the Founder and Group CEO of Robopreneur Sdn Bhd, a pioneer and market leader in service robotics technology and solutions in Malaysia. Robopreneur has been involved in modernizing businesses and accelerating digital lifestyles in the country. With more than 20 years of experience in robotics research and development, Dr Hanafiah is a prominent figure for the adoption of robotics technology in businesses. Dr. Hanafiah has won several academic and business awards including the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year Award 2021 (top nominee in Technology Category). Dr Hanafiah started the business in 2015 as a Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) start-up company to commercialize his patented research on a Robotics Rehabilitation System for autistic children. In 2018, Robopreneur developed the first humanoid robot in Malaysia named ADAM. Upon its success, Dr Hanafiah expanded Robopreneur’s R&D capabilities to offer robotics, automation and artificial intelligence (AI) products and solutions for the digital transformation of commercial businesses and social enterprises.

Head of innovation and Industry Development Department, Cyberview Sdn. Bhd.Mr Ang Kah Heng
- Ang heads the Innovation and Industry Development Department under Technology Hub Development Division in Cyberview overseeing the Smart City initiatives an d Cyberview Living Lab programmes covering the Talent, Accelerator, Pilot, and Enterprise pillars.
Previously, he was a Regional Manager for Asia involved in business development focusing on attracting digital technology investment from Greater China.
Ang also has more than 10 years experience in industry talent development and talent analytics covering both scaleups and startups.
Ang holds a Master’s degree in Software Engineering and the PMP® credential.

- Mohamad Ameer Bukhqari Mohamad Nor is a tech transfer officer at the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) with over 7-years of experience in R&D and technology transfer and commercialisation.
He has been involved in the government fund management and has managed several government funds related to commercialisation. He is currently completing his Master’s Degree in the same field.
