- At universities, research institutes, and corporate laboratories, the "seeds" of science and technology are being born, and it takes a lot of time and effort before they sprout into practical applications. The "TECH PLANTER" organized by Leave a Nest with its partner companies is an ecosystem that aims to discover these seeds and serve as a planter to turn them into businesses. Our program in MALAYSIA aimed at discovering and nurturing Real Tech seeds and entrepreneurs.

- Early stage startups and pre-startup researchers’ team or individual in Real Tech Field
- Mature startups or SMEs seeking collaborators are also welcome, even if they are close to mass production or PMF establishment.
- Visionaries that aim to change the world and/or their own country to a better place based on the science and tech based seeds
- Those who are interested in the Japanese market or collaboration with Japanese corporations.

Application deadline & 1st selection
After our closing the application window, a panel of judges consisting of Leave a Nest and its partners will review the applications.
Applicants will be asked to submit information about their team, technology, passion, and future vision via web form.
All applicants will be notified of the results of the screening process and will receive feedback on their applications.
In addition, online individual interviews will be held for those who wish to participate in the presentation review.

Announcement of finalists
Selected Finalists will be announced in the middle of May.
For applicants who pass the selection, interviews will be held to brush up their presentations for the final DEMO DAY.
In addition, it is possible to set up interviews with partner companies for the purpose of business consultation and to develop collaboration projects.

Chief judge Managing Director, Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.Mr. Abdul Hakim Sahidi
- Mr. Abdul Hakim Bin Sahidi is one of the pioneer members of Leave a Nest Malaysia, having joined the company in 2016. Since then, he has played a crucial role in establishing and leading a passionate team in the country. His primary focus lies in business and technological advancements that have the potential to create significant impacts on society. With his extensive experience, Mr. Abdul Hakim has been actively involved in mentoring researchers and startups in both Malaysia and Indonesia. He plays a vital role in bridging them with the right partners, both locally and from Japan, to facilitate collaboration and growth opportunities. Through his efforts, he aims to nurture and cultivate a new generation of technopreneurs in Malaysia, while also supporting the implementation of meaningful technologies that can benefit society as a whole.

Senior Manager,Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI)Ms. Khairul Mazwan
- Ms. Khairul Mazwan serves as the connector between the Academia community and MRANTI. In this role, she actively engages with researchers and students at higher learning institutions and provides support for programs and initiatives aimed at accelerating the commercialization of innovation, inventions, and R&D projects. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from University College London and an MBA from the International Islamic University Malaysia. With over 10 years of experience in youth entrepreneurship development programs, she has successfully organized national technopreneurship programs, commercialization and technopreneurship initiatives, business idea competitions, as well as entrepreneurship training and workshops.

Senior Investment Associate,NEXEAMr. Sid Fong
- Mr. Sid graduated from Monash University Malaysia with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychological Science and Business (Finance). Soon after completing his studies, he joined NEXEA in 2019. During his tenure, Sid has evaluated over 4500 pitch decks from tech startups in the Southeast Asia region. He has been instrumental in originating over 15 deals and leading more than 20 deals, including two successful exits. With a deep understanding of the key factors for startup sustainability and growth, Sid provides valuable advice and guidance to startups across various domains, including key metrics, legal matters, fundraising, and shareholder relations. He actively participates in accelerator programs and facilitates meaningful connections between startups and corporates, fostering potential collaborations such as investments, acquisitions, and pilot projects.

- Mr. Azril, a Chartered Engineer (Engineering Council UK) and Professional Engineer (Malaysia Board of Engineers), is a visionary leader driving technology advancements in a conglomerate. With extensive experience across Oil & Gas, manufacturing, and consulting, his expertise is highly sought after. Starting in Aberdeen, Scotland, Mr. Azril spent 12 years at Shell in various roles, including Lead Electrical Engineer. Since joining PETRONAS in 2017, he has held key positions, notably as Head of Technical Intelligence, spearheading technology management and deployment across Upstream and Downstream operations. Specializing in startup initiatives, business transformation, expansion, and joint ventures, Mr. Azril's industry experience spans the North Sea, Gas Plants, Nuclear Power Plants, manufacturing plants in Shanghai, China, and LNG Plants in Egypt. His strategic insights and vast knowledge drive innovation within the conglomerate, positioning it for continued growth and success.

Director of Investment,Khazanah Nasional BerhadMr. Omar Fateh
- Mr. Omar Fateh is the Programme and Partnerships Director for the Future Malaysia Program, a Dana Impak initiative supporting the local venture capital ecosystem. Through collaborations with domestic and international venture capital managers and ecosystem players, the program aims to empower startups, entrepreneurs, and corporate venture programs. He began his career at Big 4 accounting firms in Kuala Lumpur and London, gaining experience in audit, financial modeling, and corporate finance. With 7 years as a private equity fund manager in Malaysia, he has expertise in direct investments and fund-of-fund investments. Additionally, he spent 2 years as a strategic financial advisor to a social enterprise specializing in sustainable palm oil for smallholders. During this time, he contributed to introducing regenerative agriculture practices for Malaysian smallholders. Mr. Fateh is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales (ICAEW) and holds a Degree and Masters in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE).

Deputy General Manager,Kirin Holdings Co., Ltd.Dr. Shigehito Ikushima
- Dr. Shigehito Ikushima was born and raised in Osaka, Japan. He holds a degree in BS and MS from Osaka University, and in 2009, he received his Ph.D. in Agriculture from the University of Tokyo. With expertise in genetics, microbiology, and synthetic biology, he has served as a Manager in the business planning section and as a Research Scientist at Kirin Holdings Company. Currently, his primary focus lies in developing businesses in the field of HealthCare/HealthTech, leveraging the power of science. He is particularly interested in areas such as food ingredients, immune health, gut microbiome, and the prevention of lifestyle diseases. Shigehito Ikushima aims to utilize these keywords as foundations for innovative and impactful ventures in the healthcare industry.

- Mr. Yasunari Sato has been working in the Research and Development division for 15 years, assuming various roles such as Seconded Researcher at The University of Tokyo, Development Planning Officer, and Leader of the Dermatological Research Group. Additionally, he holds a master's degree from the Business Project Design Graduate School. In addition to his main job, he is also involved in a side job related to science education.

- Louis holds an M.Sc. from the University of Freiburg, Germany, and served as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow in at the Jagiellonian University, Poland. Louis has advised companies on M&A, PMI, and TSR maximization, and created new businesses using deep learning at Boston Consulting Group and ACES. He now serves as Managing Director at Real Tech Holdings Singapore, where he provides strategic advice to deep-tech startups.
